Remeber this cute chest of drawers I found at an antique mall in prattville?

Between putting our house on the market and getting a contract on our house we've been busy!! I'm really behind on my blogging. I finished this dresser a few months back but just haven't had time to blog about it. I decided to paint a wisteria type finish on the dresser. I decided to use a tutorial done by perfectly imperfect's blog. First I gave it a light sanding. Then I did a white wash technique by using a 50/50 ratio of water and latex paint. I just used some white paint I already had. I painted the mixture on and let it sit for about five minutes. Then I used an old t-shirt to rub the paint into the piece of furniture. Then to highlight it a little bit I took a dry paint brush and dipped it in the paint and then wipped it off with a cloth. Then I lightly brushed the piece around the edges. I sealed it off by using Miniwax paste finishing wax. I used and old rag to wipe the wax on then I buffed it with an old t-shirt after 15 minutes.

Here are the after pictures!

The drawers were pretty nasty and I really wanted to line them with scrapbook paper. I found this really cool caligraphy paper that I really wanted to use. I pasted it down with mod podge and then used mod podge over the top as well. I generally used about 4 coats.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I love the gray look it has too it!
